This Week on Da Charts – Da Albums (by Mive Content)

It’s been an eventful week GoJu Nation but you have not been forgotten.  I’ve brought da album charts with me to kick off your weekend.  Hopefully we’ll be back on schedule next Wednesday etc… And that chart will be of definite interest with the sad loss of Whitney Houston along with the Grammy’s (winners here) happening this period.  It will be especially fascinating to see the effect that will have on sales.  So keep that on your radar for next week GoJu Nation… and let us not forget we have a current chart to dissect.

Pre-Grammy winner Adele had another strong sales week by moving over 237K in units. And after winning all 6 categories she was nominated in I can see that number approaching the 350 – 400K range next week. As an editorial remark I believe Katy Perry was snubbed (she could have at least won one) in all of the Adele wanderlust. Next in an odd spin there were 5 new entries in the top 20 this week.  Not that 5 is odd but all five being back to back in the top 10 is definitely weirdo.  But stranger things have happened. The Fray, Van Halen, Paul McCartney, Dierks Bently & the Now 41 compilation all chart & with decent numbers (each artist moving at least 50K plus). And with these numbers I can add another small encouraging point about da album chart.  Although the numbers are still weak, when the 20th album moves at least 20K sales wise we can at least detect a pulse chart wise. The question I have is this GoJu Nation… Is it because we’re getting better music and your now buying OR is it the economy getting a lil bit better so we’re dipping into the disposable income arena?  Just food for thought.  Enjoy da charts and have an amazing weekend.  Chuckin’ em up.
