Ok GoJu Nation before we get back into the grind of da business and da industry, I want to introduce you to Skully N’fo. He’s here to be the social commentator for GoJu Nation. No sugar-coating here. What ever is happening in the entertainment landscape (especially in music), Skully N’fo will be here to express. NO filter, just the reality. So take a harmless couple of minutes out your day and enjoy the latest addition to the GothamJungle machine. You may wanna cover your ears, it’s about to get ugly…
The chart that drives the music industry is here GoJu Nation!! Da digi-charts are live and thriving. Eleven count em 11 singles cracking the 100K download mark. And as we set it up last week Jennifer Lopez and her current single leads the way. Another 200K plus in downloads and the single has officially arrived. I’m gonna say it. I wonder how much of a success this single would have if there wasn’t an American Idol to piggy back? I’m not sayin, I’m just saying. A nice marketing machine to get behind and around your project if you can get it. (Sidebar) Mrs. Mark Anthony is leading a 6 female artist train from the top of the charts. Number 1 through 6 all female. Get down girls go head get down…
Here we are GoJu Nation. Week 6 and counting as Eminem‘s “Recovery” is looking like the album of the summer. Turning back the clock is what he is doing as his sales figures are reminiscent of album past. 1.6M and counting as he’s only just putting legs on his 2nd single. Wonderful stuff. And the album is worth it. Even if you (for some weird reason) aren’t a Marshall Mathers fan. Being honest and revealing with your fans can bring about amazing results.
Wal-mart wants every CD you buy to cost less than ten bucks. And the nation’s largest retailer — which moved a quarter of a trillion dollars’ worth of goods last year — usually gets its way. Suppliers who don’t accede to Wal-Mart’s “everyday low price” mantra often find their products bounced from the chain’s stores, excluded from being sold to the 138 million people who shop at a Wal-Mart store every week.
Happy Holidays GoJu Nation. Remember this country isn’t black and white anymore. It’s all shades of gray. Very important to realize that as we enter a new decade. Now I’m not gonna say that the recession is over. But I’m officially declaring that the economy is back on it’s feet cause the Christmas rush translated into a 21% increase in overall sales (6.7M more than last week). Also the overall number look like a flashback to the beginning of this decade. Now usually I give the pros (Susan Boyle, Alicia Keys, Andrea Bocelli etc.) and the cons (50 Cent, Creed, R.Kelly) but it’s the holidays and I rather look forward to the upcoming new year and pray/wish prosperity for every person that’s been mentioned on this blog. So Max/Lalonne you know what it is. Team GothamJungle (IZ Real, Lamont Christopher, Q’ban, K.K. Wald, GP Jr., Jay-O) we can almost taste it so keep the foot on the pedal. GoJu Nation we couldn’t have achieved any of this without you so Love is Love. Enjoy the top 20… 1
I believe that GoJu Nation has a strong sense of what happened in the past week. But for those new to GothamJungle here’s what went down. With the country marketing the biggest shopping days of the year (Black Friday/Cyber Monday etc.) this is the bigges sales week of the year in the music industry. Only one other week comes close. (that’s another blog). But this is the core indicator of what an artist represents in this market. So lets do winners and losers
GoJu Nation, we didn’t forget about you. We know you come here (on Wednesdays) for this. We got this. Now, amazing what this time of the year brings.. It’s officially the holidays and it’s officially 4th quarter grind time for the record labels. Your gonna see a lot A list projects released from here to Christmas. Might be too much to digest but do what you’ve been doing this year. Buy the quality not the label quantity.
