Soccer World Cup has a Special meaning! by IZ-Real: Not the average Joe!!!

What’s up Peeps and what is good in your Hood!  In my hood I see people rocking their “home” team colors for the World Cup.  I’m not going to front like I am a huge SOCCER fan but I do enjoy watching the carnival atmosphere which IZ the World Cup.  When they show the people in the stands they seem so excited and it does not seem to matter that their team is winning or losing. They just seem hype because they are watching THEIR people “do what they do”. However, this is where I get a little sad because, yes I am a American, and yes I am rooting for the Americans with all my heart, but when I see these African countries like Ghana, South Africa, Nigeria, Cameroon, etc. play, I get a little misty eyed because I see people who look just like me (the fans from these countries) going crazy in the stands and I can’t help but get a little jealous because these people know where they are from and I don’t have a clue if I am from Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, etc. This IZ what slavery took from me that I could never get back. I love when Puerto Ricans, and Irish Americans celebrate their holidays in my hood because they are showing pride for where their Ancestors were from. I’m never one to “hate the player”, I just “hate the game”.  Sure I’m happy as hell for living in America but I’m not happy being an African-American. I’m happy for being of African descent, but I’d rather be called a Nigerian-American, South-African American, Ugandan-American and so on. I don’t hear cats from Italy, Spain, and Germany calling themselves European-Americans because they have that special pride since they know exactly where they are from.  I don’t have a clue where I am from, so to all the haters out there “I have the right to be angry because my people have been persecuted”.

GoJu Nation 1001 - Conflict Gold and the Congo (by GothamJungle)

When Kanye West did “Diamonds are Forever” it was more than a James Bond soundtrack loop.  It opened Hip-Hop to conflict diamonds which then turned into a movie (Blood Diamond).  Ironically if you watched the James Bond Movie “Diamonds are Forever” there are strong references to conflict diamonds back then (1971).

But this entry is to inform you about the gold scenario in Africa which is just as conflicted as diamonds.  And the deaths in Africa (specifically the congo) are the highest since WWII.  Please listen/watch.  This is beyond relevant…
