The chart that drives the music industry is here GoJu Nation!! Da digi-charts are live and thriving. Eleven count em 11 singles cracking the 100K download mark. And as we set it up last week Jennifer Lopez and her current single leads the way. Another 200K plus in downloads and the single has officially arrived. I’m gonna say it. I wonder how much of a success this single would have if there wasn’t an American Idol to piggy back? I’m not sayin, I’m just saying. A nice marketing machine to get behind and around your project if you can get it. (Sidebar) Mrs. Mark Anthony is leading a 6 female artist train from the top of the charts. Number 1 through 6 all female. Get down girls go head get down…
The chart that counts is back GoJu Nation. And as is the current environment here is where the money is being spent. Eleven albums cracking the top 20 this week. Headed by the freight train known as Bruno Mars with ‘Grenade’. He is making a strong statement as the Grammy’s are approaching. Two singles in the top twenty with over 6M in downloads. Magical stuff for a debut artist. His album is certified gold as well. In other notes, as I mentioned last week the Pittsburgh native Wiz Khalifa might catch a surge with his current single ‘Black & Yellow’. Combined with the Steelers making the SuperBowl and him performing at the AFC Championship game, this would give him that download push that currently has him at #3 on the digi-singles chart. NO ONE even his label could have predicted that outcome. But congrats, hopefully his team can capitalize on this momentum.
Happy New Year! …a few days in. So, GoJu Nation, let me get in on the 4th quarter of music (specifically the urban world). As most of you may know the 4th quarter is when the big push occurs in the music industry to recoup on budgets and to basically get that money. It is the best time of year to capitalize on the consumers’ bad buying habits. With that said, who made the most impact? Who was just aight? And who is seeing their career start to decline? Big questions.

Ok, here we are GoJu Nation. The next phase in the growth of GothamJungle. We’re going audio. You now get to put a voice with the words you’re enjoying here on “The Industry”. And now the bar gets raised. Instead of just getting so-called “opinions” with no knowledge of who is ranting, you’re getting emotion, background info that you don’t get anywhere else and you also get to peek into the backgrounds of the blogger so you know they’re experienced and knowledgeable in their content areas. This is a nice step here GoJu Nation. Get comfortable and embrace. You WILL walk away better educated. Promise. So here discussing the current state of the music industry, here are Mive Content (former music industry executive), Charles E. Austin (Entertainment Attorney) & Q’ban (Partner, Grand Reve Music/WaterMusic/EMI). It’s a GothamJungle thing baby… !!!
The chart that is breathing life into the music industry is back GoJu Nation. The digi-singles chart. The highlight of this weeks chart is 12 of the 20 singles cracking the 100K mark with
