We end the work week off right GoJu Nation by providing you with the Digi-Singles chart. Let me start by giving a HUGE GothamJungle apology for being lax in supplying you with this listing. It’s the industry standard and deserves more respect. I’ll personally take a more involved effort to get you this chart more efficiently. Now lets see what we’re really looking at here.
Here we are GoJu Nation… I was on the road this time last week so I wasn’t able to get to da charts. I have remedied that this week. And with the Grammy’s this weekend I want GoJu Nation to pay close attention the next couple of weeks. Because this is one of those periods where the charts can spike sales wise. So take a strong look at the numbers and see if your favorite album gets a major boost based on this Sunday’s award show…. FYI.com for the record if Adele doesn’t win song & record of the year, I’ll believe the awards are officially rigged. Now let’s delve into this week’s listings…
2012 is here and with that is the return of This Week on Da Charts. We bring you da albums this blog and if you take a look at our previous posts, you can see how many units some of these major artists have moved. It’s been a bit of a renaissance over the holidays. Albums made a bit of a rebound which is expected at that time of year. But you can see that a potential recovery in the album arena is possible… Now that would be a surprise seeing as how the digi-singles chart has dominated the industry the past few years. Let’s see what da album charts have to offer.
GoJu Nation here’s the only way to end your week off correctly. Da Digi-Singles chart. And as has been the case for the past couple years, this is the industry barometer. Over half of the singles have broken the 100K mark this week. And 2011 is repeating the trend of 2010 with pop being the dominant genre. Literally every single except Drake feat. Nicki Minaj (which can be debatable as a pop single) is in that lane. And pop music has consistently delivered. I wish I had something detrimental to say but I can’t “front”. Quality is all we’ve been getting. Lets see what else da charts have to offer.
We’ve had a nice week over here at GothamJungle and we’re gonna end it on the GoJu high note: Da Digi-Singles chart. The pulse of the music industry sits right here. Wanna know who’s really selling and making moves? This is the chart. And sitting on top this week is LMFAO with “Party Rock Anthem” which will be a double platinum single by this time next week. They are following the current business model by putting out timely singles that move significant numbers that will hopefully lead up to a nice selling album. Good job guys. There was a feeling out that there that you may have been “one hit wonders”. Rumor squashed.
After a couple of weeks on hiatus the digi-singles chart is back GoJu Nation. You’ve been on us wanting us to keep this chart consistent but there is a caveat. A lot of times this chart isn’t moving much so to report the same thing in consecutive weeks isn’t in our content best interest. And we like to make sure there is something to report. Understand? Now on to the da charts. The 2nd unstoppable this year next to Adele is Katy Perry. She looking at a her fifth #1 single with “Last Friday Night”. She’s closing in on certified double platinum album status and her previous four singles have eclipsed over 17 millions downloads (most ever for one album project in the download era.) In addition those singles all were number 1 in the country at some point. She is a total force of nature and this magic carper ride seems to have no end in sight.
