For the first time in ten years since the beginning, I have enjoyed watching the BET Awards. From beginning to end I thought there were few misses and tons of hits. The entrance of Kanye West was great, and the hosting of the Queen Latifah was dignified.

Very rarely do I tell producers, how to produce. In my many years in the music business I have come to understand that some people just don’t get it. They live in their worlds and decide that hot is hot. I submit that as artists we need to push the boundaries and create music that fits an artist (with touches) to push them beyond what they are currently doing. If this creative process is taken, production of instrumentals/songs becomes easier. That is how you become a hit factory. That is what makes Timbaland and so many other producers that you constantly hear for years great. Music is not created to create, they are created with purpose and direction.(Pingback site: DJ Khaled album reivew) Then their challenge is to present their music to the appropriate individuals that can enhance their melodies and musical structure. Selection is key.
So the Justin Bieber machine is officially in motion. His new album (which I assume has bonus mixes/tracks etc.) My World 2.0 (get it here:
)snatches the #1 spot this week. Which gives him (along with Lady Gaga) 2 successful albums in the top 20. Ahhh teen pop, what would the charts be without it. Other notes: there is something to having your life out in the open. Especially when you do it in faith. Because Monica’s new album (Still Standing: get it here:
) is #2 in the country with a solid 180K plus this week. And I don’t remember the radio smash that is driving this album. So there is a fan base that has been jumped started by her online life being public along with her (crappy) BET show. Congrats nontheless. Outside of debut album She & Him and Michael Buble as well as The Twilight Soundtrack, there is basically musical chairs on the charts this week. Do your own analysis and comment. Max/Lalonne, Love is Love and enjoy the charts…. 1…
The Taio Cruz single feat Ludacris “Break Your Heart” (download here:
) still holds the #1 spot for the second week in a row. This evolved pop sound seems to have found it’s niche. Interesting. B.O.B. (Atlantic Records version of Andre 3000) has officially arrived with his 2nd single “Nothin’ on You”. Atlantic is building a lil rep of breaking rap artists with mainstream appeal (Lupe Fiasco/T.I. etc). As Grandma Ruth says “everybody gets a turn”. The newest single from Drake (“Over”) and Justin Bieber (“U Smile”) are the only new entries (justifiably so) in the top 20 downloads so, with not many changes (and musical chairs with the rest of the chart) I’ll let you enjoy the list. “Being a great listener is always better than being a great talker”. So click the links, get into iTunes and get your download on. Speaking of downloads check our page out we got something for ya! 1.
Taio Cruz (in basically replacing the Jason DeRulo/Lil Wayne single “Down”) feat Ludacris (what a month he’s having!?!?) with Break Your Heart holds the #1 spot this week on the digi-singles chart. Over 200K in downloads in a week is nothing to sneeze at. Over half a million downloads in 4 weeks, a very good start… Now the digi-singles chart always proves a singular point: there will be no crashing of the charts. What the populous wants they download and there will be no label “reindeer games” played on this chart. I love that. Basically, not a lot of major changes on this weeks charts. You can always download “Telephone” or “Nothin’ on You” or the 5 platinum+ singles that the Black Eyed Peas put out by clicking the iTunes links below and get your download on. Had a nice email chat with Lalonne yesterday. I may appreciate her more everyday. Here are your top downloads. Enjoy. 1
I don’t know if this is DefJam up to its tricks again (they are known for buying thier own product to boost opening album sales) but Ludacris (one of my favorites) holds the #1 Spot with his new album “Battle of the Sexes”. A concept album (to an extent) that features a bunch of duets with female rappers etc. He hasn’t had the 1st single smash we are accustomed to but his marketing/promotion has been on point. Congrats. Other notes: Along with The Gorillaz (on of my favorite concept projects), 4 other albums debuted on the top 20 outside of “Luda”. The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Gary Allen, Broken Bells & Passion make their mark. Great to see when new music makes it’s mark. And FYI, the CD game is still on life support but sales are up slightly this week. Now the download game in infuego so click the links below from iTunes and get your download on. Max/Lalonne, love is love and enjoy the top 20. 1.
This post will be short and simple. I like Ludacris as an artist and overall I think he is one of the best. The album is a good album. Some of the songs I had the pleasure to hear did not make the final cut, but all in all it is good. My hope is that the decision to pull some of the songs is to move them to a future release because trust me Luda has more heat.
Some of the smashes are:
“Party No Mo” – a Bangladesh best. Feature Gucci, never really been a fan, but on this one he is a great fill.
“Tell Me A Secret” – this one feature Ne-Yo… nice.
Just because we are on top… here is an exclusive for GoJuNation… “Cross My Mind”, exclusive Ludacris featuring Damien Marley and K. Cossom. Wow folks Luda is really making great music to me, as always. I would have to say he is the best he has ever been. This will be the spring of Ludacris. Soon to be available on iTunes but we have it first. Also for another bonus Luda track check “The-Bytes”. Mive Content and I have had many discussions about Luda and we agree he may be one of the best. Enjoy.
