Real quick: what is the greatest selling rap album of all times?
We’ll get to the answer and why in a few minutes, but first…
What we are told from the outside looking in and what insiders know about album sales and who/what drives, them are two very different things. Let’s start by exploring some of the biggest misunderstandings in urban music:

CNN has a feature called “Connector of the Day“.  It’s an expose’ where the taste makers who are doing it big in their industry are profiled. This one spoke to me because a lot of us aren’t aware of how strong some brands are establishing themselves.  Enter Diddy, who (if you don’t know) has a 500 million brand in Sean Jean (that’s why he doesn’t care about the music as much). And we get to find out the in/outs of is his clothing empire (yes it is an empire). So courtesy of CNN here’s “Connector of the Day” with Sean Combs…

I have been waiting for this artist to drop for a while and now is the time. K. Michelle is a product of the Hitz Committee/Jive camp (Shouts to Memphitz). It took them a while to find she sound, but i think they got it. Out the gate, K. Michelle’s first single,”Can’t Do This” is a strong ballad that showcases her vocals and presence. Produced by R.Kelly this song is a beast. He did it in the past with Aaliyah and maybe now with K. Michelle.

One of the music industry commandments:  Thou shalt not leak new albums!!!. Instinctively it makes sense: “If I get it early I don’t have to buy it”. OR “If I listen to it early, I can decide if it’s good enough for me to purchase or not”.

An environment that work with the artist thought process and you can take it with you.  Enjoy watching how you can make $$ with your own company without huge levels of stress.  Take notes…:

It’s a GothamJungle thing baby…!!!

Dawn Richards of Dirty Money ( and formally Danity Kane) is still penning songs for her upcoming release and for others. “Already Know” is a joint that is drop straight to the GoJuNation. “The song is a throw away for me.” -Qban

Droppin’ on the words on Mive, it does seem that miss “Keri baabby” does not have another “Energy” solo song in her rite now. Although I do respectfully disagree on the lasting legs and industry pull of Keri to Mive Content. I think she can be amazing and has done amazing songs. It is possible that “her” formula is the feature affect. “Change Me” is a good pop/euro songs that features Akon’s continuing style very well. Do the do Keri. Stay blessed… I take cash in 2010.~Qban

So Amerie speaks on the next single “Swag Back” that she did with Jim Jonsin (look him up ppl). And I have a two-fold question. One, why is Def Jam still spending money on an artist that should clearly go indie. Numero dos, why is Amerie still not capitalizing on the fact that she is a beautiful woman and get her modeling game popping off. Obviously the music 15 minutes has come and gone. With no clear smash hit or feature to bless her in the near future should she not be concered about her checks? The fan base is not that strong and I know there aren’t tons of  artist begging her to jump on tour. Those are some of my industry thoughts. But GoJuNation… this is not the first time you have heard this but the politics in the biz of music can keep some people afloat. (ie. Cassie)
