She is riding the “it” wave GoJu Nation. Rihanna has her seventh studio album ready for you. AND “Unapologetic” is the appropriate title for this opus. For an eight year career that’s pretty prolific. That part of the game she and her label (Def Jam) have fully figured out. Enough artists aren’t aware of what their presence represents to pop culture, therefore their timing is askew. Which over time becomes a slippery slope for the millennial A.D.D. generation. But Ri-Ri doesn’t have that issue. A wild child persona combined with her lightning rod social network status and people you are looking at what a current super-star is. Has she made another album to validate that? Let’s take a look.
It’s been a couple of months so please forgive my neglect. Our CEO has been doing some big things personally and I had to be there to support. Yes, it never ends for Mive over here in GothamJungle. But I’ve escaped long enough to put da album charts in your possession. And I’ve instantly noticed the Taylor Swift movement is still a very viable music entity. Her moving over a million units in her 1st week is nothing short of remarkable in this changing environment. Hopefully the music industry will recognize this as an exception and not the rule. Seeing this through rose color glasses is one of the reasons why this genre is falling down the disposable income totem pole. Let’s see what da album charts have to offer.

As explained last week GoJu Nation, the school return rush took all the disposable income left for album purchases. Yet that isn’t the case this week so a rebound is in order. Now something else to keep in mind, the fall TV season is underway. This doesn’t preclude the buying public but it may delay it. I only look for shows that feature music to maximize on this scenario. So look for ‘The Voice‘ & ‘Glee‘ to get some sales mileage out of this. Now on to da Album charts…

Water Music artist, Alus, is unique with her R&B/Pop styling and sound. Blasting off in the industry with her single, “Run”, produced by Shaun Bless. In only one month, this budding songstress has already garnered 25,000 hits on Youtube and features on notable publication like King of A&R and Hits Daily Double to name a few.

The dog is back with his long awaited album, “Undisputed”. The big questions are, could we have waited longer?… Should he even do an album? “X” returns to us going indie, f#ck the majors because they didn’t understand him. Hmm… after listening to the latest installment, I get why they didn’t.

In 2011 – 12.4 million viewers. In 2012 – 6.1 million. That’s the discrepancy in viewership for the MTV Awards this past Thursday. This award show has been the official 12-34 demographic last hurrah before the school season is officially in full swing. And the stars seemed to be aligned for a successful broadcast. We had Kevin Hart (who is the current “it” comedian) hosting. We had Kanye West & Kim Kardashian making a public appearance. Wiz Khalifa & Kanye’s ex Amber Rose made a public baby bump announcement also. And let’s not forget Rihanna & Chris Brown sitting next to each other. What could go wrong? GothamJungle has some theories…
“What you wanna do. Wanna be a baller, shot caller, brawler?” – P.Diddy – ‘It’s All About The Benjamin’s’ – No Way Out (1997). Fifteen years ago and the sentiment of that rap classic still rings true. Basically, because of the slow recovering job market along with rising cost of living, options are few. And if you’re relying on the Government for relief, you’ll see for them it’s all about the Benjamin’s. So with the election less than 2 months away, both parties have officially stepped to the plate with political prowess looking to get your vote.
Unquestionably, YouTube has been one of the 21st century phenomenons that has become a social stable. You can’t visually stay relevant unless YouTube is inclusive in your plan. It brings your creative vision closer to the public and if your blessed to go viral, it can change your lifestyle. What GothamJungle loves about YouTube is the graying of the entertainment playing field. An aspiring actor can potentially receive just as many views as an award-winning thespian or reality show participant.
Support is something that’s hard to quantify & we have been blessed to have a fan base that follows us consistently. Luckily, when we return we have qualitative content to deliver. We’ve been out the loop too long GoJu nation. There have been a lot of adjustments. We updated the website. Taking on a couple of new responsibilities. And have decided to step up our game as we grow into the year 2013. What does this mean for GoJu Nation? That answer will be arriving in the upcoming months GoJu nation. But for now we have a blog to get done and that means this week on da charts has returned. It’s been approximately 4 months since we posted and that’s way too long for GoJu nation to wait. With that being said, let’s see what the charts have to offer this week.
