What’s up GoJu Nation!! Here’s the recap of my predictions for WrestleMania XXVIII I made last week. To make it easier for you to follow and for me to recap, I left previous week’s comments and added to what I wrote. This week’s comments are in red. I commented on the matches in order. Let’s see how I did.

What it is GoJu Nation!! Long time no see. WrestleManiaXXVIII is upon us, so I thought I give you my predictions for this year’s event and then follow-up with a recap and see how I did. Here’s the line-up for the show:

For those of you who missed it a couple of weeks ago, C.M. Punk cut one of the best promos in years! I’m not exaggerating. You don’t have to be an internet “smart mark”, C.M. Punk fan or John Cena hater to appreciate it either. (On a side note: Everyone who hates on Cena would trade places with him in a millisecond!). Apparently, Punk’s current contract expires on July 17th. I say current because if he didn’t sign an extension or a whole new deal altogether, he wouldn’t be allowed to speak on live television, much less have a WWE title shot on a PPV. Obviously, he signed a new deal and they’re using his expiring contract as a storyline. What can’t be underestimated is Punk’s passion and devotion to pro wrestling and, that and much more was on display 2 weeks ago on Raw. His promo had passion, emotion, strong & powerful delivery and perfect execution. The added touch of cutting his mic off and fading to black (without the obligatory fading WWE logo) was a very nice touch that added to the realism of the closing of Raw 2 weeks ago. Vince McMahon let Punk cross many a line in his promo, which gave the promo the “surprise” feel that wrestling has sorely missed since the dawn of the internet. What has traditionally been taboo in the WWE, Punk mentioned other wrestling companies not owned or affiliated with the WWE (New Japan Pro Wrestling and Ring of Honor), Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar (who Vince hates for leaving), bashed Stephanie, Triple H and Johhny Ace (John Laurinitis – EVP of Talent Relations aka the guy who hires and fires people). All while wearing a Stone Cold Steve Austin shirt (I can’t ever recall a heel wearing a babyface’s shirt who hadn’t passed away) and telling the world that John Cena, Hulk Hogan and the Rock have all kissed Vince McMahon’s ass to get to the top of the wrestling world.

Another week and the summer movies are winding down GoJu Nation. We’re at the point we’re the movie studios are hoping for a late summer gem to add to their bottom line and show the industry how smart they are.  This is a slot where  a “Superbad” type movie slides in and becomes the movie of the season.  Now I don’t know  if “The Other Guys” falls in that category but, it is the #1 movie this weekend and did very respectable.   It could be the star power (Eva Mendes, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson, Will Ferrell & Mark Wahlberg) or it could be that the team behind Will Ferrell biggest hits was at the helm.  Either way there’s a lil ways to go to recoup the movie budget but a solid 1st week nonetheless.
